Magic Memories of the Monadh Liath

I’ve just spent a pleasant hour or so reviewing past photographs of the Monadh Liath

I’ve written about the magic of these hills before and so won’t repeat myself. But just imagine this wonderful and wild landscape with wind turbines everywhere!

It seems wrong not to share these with you. And if you are a TGO Challenger preparing to set out for these parts of the first time, well, this should whet the appetite!

I walked the Burma Road in early May; there was a guy on a digger causing havoc.
He was widening the road presumable to aid the wind farm proposals. It was a real eye opener and just a small sample of the ruination to come if planning permission is granted.

I had a few reports of that digger. Didn’t got that way last year and will avoid it this one as well.

some wonderful photies andy – we are route planning ‘as a couple’ at the moment (first time this – I usually do it!) and both of us are really looking fwd to the findhorn camp, and me to being on that ridge for a bit. Would u recommend the Gen. wade road more than the Burma one, then?

I’d keep of the big hill tracks and follow the burns up and down the hills, David. Glorious caochans gurgling beneath your feet on soft springy turf. Absolute backpacking heaven.

    Lovely pictures, Andy.

  5. Steve says:

I wonder if the entry of Donald Trump into the anti-windfarm debate might eventually influence Salmond

  6. andy says:

Steve, I can’t believe that any intevention from Trump will be useful!

  7. andy says:

    Sorry David, missed this!

If you mean the Wade Road as it goes over the Corriarick — avoid it like the plague :-) I am never going over it again — btu everyone should do it once :-)

The Burma Road is long but far better. YOU have the view of the mountains to look forward to as you cross over the top!
