Review: Cairngorm Hotel

Scotland

The Spice of India may have been a total disaster but there are other establishments in Aviemore of an altogether higher quality, for example, the Cairngorm Hotel which is situated right opposite the train station.

I arrived in reception dripping with water and covered with mud. Had they a room for the night? The reception didn’t blink; she’d been here before.

You’ll need a shower. Here’s a room on the first floor not far from the stairs. I was through reception and into the room in less than five minutes.

The room cost me around Β£50. It was clean and warm and with a good shower. The price included a gigantic Scottish breakfast β€” if you wanted it. I stuck to muesli and fruit.

In the bar they serve good, locally brewed ales and will give you samples of the various brews before you finally order. The staff of the bar, restaurant and hotel were warm and friendly.

Good place this.
