From comments I’ve seen somewhere, Alan crossed, at on point, near Lochindorb. Here Alan would have seen hundreds of white wooden stakes with grit boxes below. They dig a big lump of peat up, turn it over and scatter grit on top. I think it helps the grouse in some way - but willing to be corrected on this!
