I picked up my copy of the re-designed TGO magazine yesterday. The new design has already received a warm welcome on the net, see John Hee amongst others.
I’ve always preferred TGO to other walking magazines because there is a lot to read, rather than a lot to browse through. The current edition has a lot of content. I particularly appreciated the in detail look at Sutherland; Cameron’s piece of the Sutherland Way was particularly interesting.
I guess the real test will come longer terms as you’d expect there to be a lot of good copy in a re-launch issue. I guess a lot of the credit for this has to go down to new Deputy Editor Emily Rodway. The page design is better and the clustering together of items such as gear, in one place, is a big improvement. Attentive readers will see from words by me in the new issue; I found Emily good to work with.
I hope the new re-design helps TGO grow. I’m looking forward to reading it, not least because I know that it might take me almost a week to go from cover to cover. That’s value for money!
I went out and found a copy after reading this and it’s a good read.
I reckon you won out over Cameron re the tarps…
I reckon you did not. Ever way you put your case across with a good argument. The new look TGO is good stuff. The Sutherland Trail is some write up – got to walk that.
Hmm. I use tents a lot. Opening the door of the tent is not the same experience! Mind you, the miserable git does live in Scotland and the midgies will be more of a problem for him
Agree- one of the best mag layouts I’ve seen for a long time
