Townsend’s Quality Makes the Difference
Sometime last year I let my subscription to backpackinglight.com slip away. It wasn’t that I didn’t appreciate the site β and its aims and objectives β I do. But I found that everything was getting too repetitive, and the quality of the writing in the main features just wasn’t strong enough.
A few months ago I was encouraged to see that Chris Townsend was becoming their main gear editor. A few days ago the first piece from Chris came through on my RSS reader and I was suitably impressed. This piece in question looks at the development and history of Pertex, together with a review of some current products. Non subscribers can only access the summary of the article, but there is enough quality here to ensure that I’ll be renewing the subscription soon.
Chris shows that it is still the quality of writing, and the knowledge of the writer, that makes the difference.

To be honest I’ve never bothered with the mag, I’ve just subscribed to the website. I’d only subscribe to the mag if I thought the writing was going to be really good!
