The trail journal — and restaurant reviews — for my 2008 trip to the Pyrenees are now online.
We started our journey started at Cauterets, crossed over to Spain and descended the lovely Vallée d’Ara to Torla, from where we spent a few days in Ordessa. After crossing back into France at Gavarnie we ended our trip in the Néovielle Lacs National Park. This was the first time I’ve been to Néovielle and in many ways it was the highlight of the trip.
I’m never sure about these trail journals but I know a lot of you enjoy them!
These walks can be done as backpacking trips or as hut-to-hut walks, and many of them can be done as day walks.

Ooh! Restaurant reviews!!
*trots across, squealing*
Ah, good, been looking forward to this Andy.
This was great, Andy
Many thanks for writing it up. I particularly enjoyed the foody details, although I was naturally a little disconcerted to find you fantasizing about eating a sleeping pig!
*shudder*
I stayed at that nice campsite in Heas last year; the one where you choose what to pay for the camping. I too found it a cunning plan, since for me it also turned out to be the most expensive camp of the trip. It was a lovely, friendly place, though.
All that snow in July must have been a bit of a shock! I’d certainly have been surprised to see it.
This is a great trip report Andy which I’m sure will transfer into a reference guide for those interested in that area.
Can’t wait to finish my Alps crossing and start the HRP!
