The Informality of Blogging – What a Joy
I’m writing this as a break – or distraction, I suppose. Currently I’m writing – and proofing – a report that has been commissioned by the Health Service. The report draws together the learning from a small research study that illustrates some big gaps in provision for a small group of people. The writing has to be precise and everything weighed up quite carefully. Arguments for change need to be properly made and the text needs to be lively and relevant without being emotion, or going over the top.
The proofing stage of these projects always drives me mad, not least because non of my colleagues on this project are any good at it. It is all left to me.
I’m reminded of why I enjoy blogging so much. It is instant and immediate, designed to capture emotion and the drama of a moment. What suffers in blogs is attention to detail, to grammar and to spelling. I hope you don’t mind too much.
As for me, I know what I would rather be writing!

I know exactly what you mean – one of the things that turned me to the B side as a release from those endless loops of edit/revision/redraft/repeat
