Podzine Blooper ….

Listening to the new Podzine from the Outdors Station this morning I realise that I’ve made a major error …

I interview blogger London Backpacker – George Griffin. For some reason I’ve called him George Cummings !!!

Where that came from I don’t know.

George, many apologies mate.

Still, George is bloody good at this interview lark. If you haven’t listened to this yet, hot foot it over to the Outdoors Station immediately !!!

… still wondering; who on earth is George Cummings? I think he may have once played for the Villa …

  1. My one chance for an ego trip and my name’s wrong :weep: 🙂

  2. I don’t know why I made that mistake George or is it Bad Wolf or London Backpacker …

We should get together when I’m in London – we can give you another stab at fame!

  3. I like to people guessing 🙂

This Month I`ll mainly be LEGOMAN!!!

I`m not really sure I have much more to add to my thoughts on the blogging scene.

I must say that I`m surprised how I came across much better that I thought I would.

Must be your mic and editing skills. 🙂

  4. Nah George – it’s always enthusiasm that works! Good stuff.

  5. Jenny says:

Have you read Diary of a Nobody by George and Weedon Grossmith? There is a Cummings in that book, and a Gowing.A long shot I know.

  6. Martin Banfield says:

    A childhood hero perhaps?
George Cummings (Born Thornbridge, near Falkirk, 5 June 1913 – Died April 1987) known as the ‘Granite-Hard Full-Back’, was a Scottish footballer of the 1930s and 1940s.

Cummings was the captain of Aston Villa’s great post-war defence, having signed for the club before the war, in 1935 from Partick Thistle.

He gained a Second Division championship medal in 1938 and a League War Cup tankard in 1944. He was Villa’s skipper from 1945 to 1949. He was popular with supporters due to his never-say-die spirit and no-nonsense defending. He played 237 times for Villa between 1935 and his retirement in 1949.

On retirement he worked for the Dunlop Rubber Company where he invented the condom.

  7. What an amazing resource the internet is! Thanks Martin.

I’m too young to have seen George play but I would have heard all about him …

.. I wonder if he ever backpacked?

  8. Jenny,

Yes I have read Diary of a Nobody – suddenly there are embers of the Cummings clan everywhere!
