I’ve just finished a long chat with Duncan Macleod (aka Aktoman) for the ‘Meet the Blogger’ project. New technologies like Skype may be fantastic (mainly because they are free) but they can drive you mad. Our first couple of connections were dreadful. When we finally got a good connection it was like the system was saying, “oi, you to have been chatting for over an hour now; I’m pulling the plug”. I felt like a teenager being presented with the household phone bill!
Nevertheless, we got some good stuff. Originally I thought this might make for a nice 15 to 20 minute piece. But everyone I’m interviewing is far too interesting and we’re beginning to verge into some really interesting stuff about the future of broadcasting and print.
On Friday I’m hoping to get a fair amount of face-to-face material, which will compensate for some of the Skype whoops and whistles. But this is beginning to be a far bigger project than I thought.
So, please be patient; I reckon it will be worth it.
And thanks Aktoman!
Hah, what’s the chance of me talking for only 15-20 mins. The only worry was that I’d run out of Covonia.
15 to 20 minutes; what about the other couple of hours
