My Pyrenees project is now complete. I’ll add a few pages on practicalities and planning over the next few days, but these won’t show up on the main blog page.
Now, back to the usual nonsense!

John Gimlette is a new name to me; I have Amazon's recommendation system for discovering him. 'The Wild Coast' is one of those wonderful travel books that makes its focus on of the globe's backwaters. 'The Wild Coast' is the story of travels in … [Read More...]

Great effort and resource, Andy, which i’m sure people will be referring to in years to come. Kev Reynolds watch out !
Steady on,
Kev is a mate of mine! I’ve just arranged to interview him, again, at the Outdoor Show.
I’ve thought for a long time that the web cam fill an important niche, filling out the detail that guide book writers just can’t put in because of space. And of course, the web is quickly editable. What I’ve wanted to do is to address the issues that people put to me after they’ve read the books! I hope these posts give you an extra flavour of these mountains and, maybe, make it easier to explore them.
Interestingly, Kev understands this notion quite well. He was the first person I interviewed for the Book Club Podcasts and – despite never having ever heard one – he could see the point and the possibilities.
Great series, big effort and something to keep in mind for reference. Will also saves you to answer some of the FAQs posted in OM re. the Pyrenees. Just point them to your blog.
Like Ecco said hope it stays there for the years to come or until the next server crash (of course this time you have a backup!)
Roman I’m constantly backing up these days
I quite agree about the role of the web adding beyond the guidebooks. For example, Kev Reynolds book is regarded as the benchmark for the pyrenees and yet there are gaping omissions regarding hut facilities, wild camping, weather & water and lots of “cut & paste” repetition on overlapping walks. I’m not sure I could have planned my route so easily without OM, this blog and Andy’s generous advice.
I`ve never thought about walking in the Pyrenees, until I read this
Not sure I ever will but I know where to look.
Thanks for some interesting information
George
