Anniversary Time

In a comment to one of my posts earlier today, Alan S makes the point that this blog is a year old. It struck me that he might be write, not least because this was conceived to run alongside my TGO entry.

Checking back through my email records I see that the blog was created in early November and so Alan is about right. Also about to celebrate is Bob Cartwight; he and Rose launched backpackinglight.co.uk at about the same time.

I don’t know about you, but I feel that a lot has happened in that time. We’ve seen the first hiking podcasts – on both sides of the Atlantic, the opening up of a number of new etail specialists here in the UK, the Lighten-up Section in TGO, the TGO Podcasts and – more recently – an explosion of other bloggers which means that I don’t feel quite as alone as I used to.

I tempted to say that the UK lightweight trekking scene has matured. Perhaps this is a little premature but we’ve all certainly come a long way in the last year. I wonder how things will look at the end of October next year?

But now is the time for the present. If you haven’t yet left Bob a happy birthday message (to be included in a future podcast) then do so immediately via:

You’ll put the smile back on Bob’s face!
