Just Who, or What, is Politics in Brum?
A couple of years ago Birmingham’s political classes began to be aware of a new name in town, Politics in Brum. which was using social media to promote political debate in the city. As the organisation has developed Politics in Brum’s founder, Pauline Geoghegan, has branched out into public meetings and appearances on national and local media.
In this podcast I talk to Pauline about any she established Politics in Brum and about how she hopes to see the initiative develop.

Interesting interview. Though, contrary to what you say, I can’t get in touch with Pauline as of today.
Yesterday, 27 August, she tweeted a 3-year-old TPA story about the Birmingham City Council website she calls a ‘dungeon’ then requested feedback about the site. I replied to say I’d never had a problem with it and a minor, I’d say polite on both parts, debate ensued, followed by another about the BCC LGBT link.
She’s blocked me today and locked her account. Her own website has been down for a while too, but my friends tell me she’s still tweeting so I do hope she’s ok.
I’m not sure you can set yourself up as a citizen journalist ‘scrutinising’ BCC and pretend to any sort of impartiality with any actual credibility if you block someone who disagrees with you and lock your main vehicle of communication – it smacks of an agenda.

Interesting Michelle although, of course, Pauline is nothing to do with me!
BCC’s website is much improved these days, not sure I would have called it a dungeon but I did call it a few things!
Has she blocked you on Twitter — she is still tweeting!
I’ll mention this to her when I next see her!
