My Application ….

By Andy | February 11, 2008

A sweet little email this evening from the Conference Services Unit of the Labour Party.

“I can confirm that your application has been successful and your credential will be dispatched week commencing 18 February.”

What they mean, they can confirm my application has been successful?

It’s my Party. I am a Member. I paid them £50. I should bloody well think it has been successful.

This is the kind of crap that is driving me mad. I spend all my adult life in this Party, have given them a not inconsiderable amount of money over the years and canvassed (sorry Voter IDd) more times than is necessary for a sound individual.

Am I supposed to be grateful that they have deemed it OK to let me into the building? Why can’t they treat this as a normal transaction, i.e. thank you for your £50 here’s your credentials!

God this Party drives me mad …

…. blood pressure, blood pressure, remember the blood pressure …

(Still, I suppose I should rest assured that they don’t consider me a terrorist).

    Dear Andy

    Maybe it’s code.

“In an ideal world, we wouldn’t need your money.”

    or

“You’re only being allowed in on sufferance. We need the money.”

Actually, I think we should both be extremely grateful. Without wanting to sound churlish, it is a infinite improvement on Manchester 2006 - Conference Services is to be congratulated.

We are being kept informed. The next test is will the accreditation packs actually arrive.

Hmm. I just wish they wouldn’t act as if they’re doing me a favour!

Just whatever you do, don’t shout ‘rubbish’ from the back of the auditorium!!

And be prepared to be searched, id’d, finger printed, eye scanned and have your bags checked, ‘just for your own safety sir!’
