More on Money

By Andy | January 29, 2008

My little piece yesterday seems to have raised the pulses a little. As always people seem to be a bit worried about posting here - they prefer private emails. This is fine, I understand how difficult the thought Police can be at times :-)
Still, one e-correspondent refers me to an interesting thread on LabourHome.org:

Labour Party Loan Liabilities

The discussion makes you realise what a strange position we are in, as members of a political party that is also in government.

I’m not sure what the answers are but a party need to be clear that it is composed of members. And yet there is a need to guard against political foes. Mind you, everyone knows about this problem and so there really is little need for such blanket silence.

Gordon was right when he said we needed a thorough debate about the future of the Party. Harriet was right when she said all of the things she said in her campaign.

In government I think we’ll find that there is no ‘easy’ nor ‘perfect’ time to have this debate. But it is a debate that we need to get on with sooner rather than later, for all our sakes.
