Introduction

This is the (long awaited) journal for my fourth TGO Challenge crossing of Scotland.

Many thanks to all of you who helped with the route planning, to those who gave me such good companyand support along the way and to those of you who agreed to a podcast interview (which is well beyond the normal call of duty).

Special thanks go to those who shared their journey with me and who are featured in the journal. All that is in here is true! Well, there might be some poetic license from time to time. I've tried to give non-challengers a feel for the event and the social side is part of it. So special thanks to: Phil Turner, Humphrey Weightman, Rob Slade, David Albon, Steven Horner, Lee Wells. Tony Bowe, Shirley Worrall, Cameron McNeish, Alan Sloman and Phil Lambert.

As ever there were friends who were not on this year's crossing but who I felt were with me in spirit: Bob and Rose Cartwight, Colin Ibbotson (who somehow still managed to find his way into the journal) and Kate Foley.
