Friday was warm and sunny once again.
Challengers packed up and chatted together, saying their goodbyes and hoping to meet again next time.
We headed off to the Tesco café with Humprhey. Tescos has the advantages of being next to the train station and of serving a very cheap breakfast. At the station a few trains had been cancelled. The plaforms were crammed full of rucksacks as most of us waited to travel south.
By 11.30 we were on our way, travelling with Chris Townsend who was on his way to Perth in order to travel back up to the Cairngorms. At Glasgow we were delighted to find that the new timetable had struck of our usual couple of ours wait and we were able to jump on to a train to Birmingham almost immediately.
By 6.30 pm we were home. There was weeding to do in the vegetable patch and a big clear out needed in the garden.
I dumped my pack down in a spare room. It is still there several weeks later, un-packed and reminding me that I'm due back in the Cairngorms at the end of June. I'd use those days of solo walking to properly plan next year's Challenge. This event, well, it just gets you that way.
