PHD Minimus Sleeping Bag
Boseman Mountain Torso-Lite Mat

The Minimus is one of PHD's superb down products and weighs in at less than 500 grams. Although rated at down to 5 degrees it kept me comfortable at temperatures closer to freezing. Used with a Lemon Tree, silk liner, which gives a little more warmth.

The Torso Lite is a product from the USA which is now being imported by both backpackinglight.co.uk and hike-lite. This tapered, inflatable mat is half the size and weight of the lightest Thermorests; it protects just the Torso, but I'm 6 foot and it worked fine for me. It is just as thick as the Thermorest and so as warm. I found this worked very well although it takes a while to get used to - you have to make sure it doesn't move around too much. I placed my pack and spare clothes under my legs and feet - but then you have to do this anyway with a short thermorest. A great piece of kit.

For a pilllow I used spare clothes packed into a small-ish, sinylon stuff sack. The down vest was placed under my shoulders and on top of the sack for extra warmth and comfort.
